Competition Schedule 2019

Tynemouth Bowling Club is affiliated to Bowls Northumberland and selected teams play in two county league competitions each week:

Clegg    Games are played on Wednesday nights, starting at 7pm (August 6.30pm) The Team consists of four rinks of three players, each having two woods played over twenty one ends. Entry restricted to men only.

Knight    Games are played on Tuesday nights, same format and entry restriction as Clegg.

In addition to the above we play in two knock out county competitions during the season namely:

 Northumberland Challenge Cup    Two rinks of four players play teams from four or five other clubs. The club with the best performance on the day progresses to the next round.

Jubilee Cup    One rink of four players in groups of four clubs. Each team plays the other clubs in its group and the team with the best performance progresses to the next round.

The Club is also associated with The Tynemouth and District Bowling Association and plays in their following competitions;

Knott   Played on Monday nights, 7.00pm start (6.30pm August). Four triples games played with two woods ( 21 ends)

John Porter Cup   Same format as Knott, but generally played on Friday nights and is a knockout competition.

Edward Gray Cup   Two rinks of three players plus reserve, one rink at home and one rink away. Played with two woods each over twenty-one ends. An extra end will be played at the home venue to decide the winner in the event of a tie after 21 ends.

This Cup is normally played on Thursday nights.

Hately   Played on Thursday afternoons and is open to all players over fifty-five. Teams may be mixed. Four triples rinks with two woods each . Three additional competitions are played i.e. Norman Woolford singles, Alan Carrick pairs and lrene Ward triples.

Friday Friendly   Played on Friday afternoon and is open to over forty fives and may be mixed. Four triples rinks with two woods each. Three additional knockout competitions, (Millennium rinks, Mixed pairs and Mixed triples) are organised over the season.
